The main professional grade of membership is the Licentiate. This
grade carries with it the status of Registered Practitioner and
the holder is entitled to use the designatory letters LIAV. There
are
5 key conditions to gain this status, which are in line with
the mandatory requirements of the Code of Practice and are as follows.
Have been properly trained in assessment and verification
and successfully acquired the qualification specified by your
own regulatory body for the qualifications you work with (e.g.
D units
or A&V units)
For those who almost meet all of these five criteria but need a little further time to complete them there is the Licentiate contract where individuals agree to meet the criteria within the 12 month period. This might be the occupational updating for example. Many of our extremely experienced practitioners are finding that one or more of the requirements for registration are not immediately met and a little time is needed to 'fill in' the missing bits. For those who are new to Assessment and Internal Verification (under 12 months practice) will have the Associate grade. For those individuals working with workbased qualifications but who are not carrying out the duties of formal assessor or internal verifier there is the Affiliate grade. The final individual grade of membership is that of Fellowship which is awarded to registered practitioners on application who have been practicing assessors and/or internal verifiers for a minimum of five years and who can show a substantial contribution to the advancement of professional practice. Employer recognition is in the form of our Chartered Employer
Membership award. Employers who can meet the Institute’s
rigorous conditions can apply for the Chartered status recognition. |
